Ryou was added to the opening sequence with the guardians a couple of episodes ago - totally missed it the first time! I'm curious if he's going to be the wildcard that will help them defeat Logos.
Well, Aria obviously doesn't trust Drei. I wouldn't either; he's one creepy old man! With the news that the man who was supposed to accompany Aria originally died unexpectedly, I wouldn't put it past Drei to have ulterior motives. And his choice of words were interesting too, calling Tamaki "evil". It certainly seems like Logos might have a good reason for wanting the artifacts and believing that Tamaki and the guardians are the evil ones. However, Drei is one suspicious character, and I'm glad that Aria is smart enough to see that!
But there are other signs that make me distrustful of the whole situation. There's Mitsuru sneaking around at night - I highly doubt it was just because she couldn't sleep, especially in the context of her conversation with the grandmother in the last episode - as well as the grandmother herself who obviously knows how to use magic, but not teaching Tamaki or revealing anything to her. Then there's Kiyono's uncle, who's a government official of some sort who has come to help Tamaki and the guardians. That's pretty fishy, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kiyono herself became involved sooner or later as well.
Whatever the case may be, this episode is exactly what I've been looking for the entire series: a deeper and more intricate plot rather than just a shallow one that's an excuse just to have pretty boys fighting. The angst that the guardians were feeling was pretty believable though, and it hit home especially when Mahiru pointed out to Tamaki that all they are are tools for the princess to use. It was pretty harsh, so I was glad to see Yuuichi comfort Tamaki.
