Hyouka - First Impressions

I just had a Clannad deja vu - with the same animators, same seiyuus playing the two main male characters, and similar character personalities, I was a bit than a bit stunned at how similar Hyouka was to Clannad.

Houtarou, similar to Tomoya, is a bored, energy conserving student who has no interest in the daily activities of high school.  There's Satoshi, who mirrors Youhei, but a little bit less intense and way more sensible.  Then there's Chitanda, who would be Nagisa in the Clannad world - the girl who changes Houtarou's life when she joins the Book Club, a club that Houtarou joined as the only member (he thought) as a promise to his sister.  Even the introduction of Chitanda, with the slow motion turn, was similar to how Tomoya met Nagisa.  Not that I'm complaining overly much, especially since it was the same studio that animated both shows (as well as K-ON!, since the character design of Chitanda is strikingly similar to Mio).

Aside from that though, Hyouka takes on the mystery genre with a pretty good start.  The mysteries aren't huge, but Houtarou still manages to impress me by how fast he's able to solve them.  We've got a pretty all star cast playing the four main characters, and add in beautiful classical music and gorgeous animation?  I'm sold!
